This web site contains at set of daily prayers for use by individuals, families, and small groups. So often traditional protestant church's do not teach people how to pray beyond simply petitioning God for things they want or need and occasionally giving Him thanks for his blessings to them. There is no training given in a disciplined life of prayer or how to pray. More liturgical churches have solved this problem by providing a Prayer Book with set prayers and times of prayer. These prayers can be quite meaningful and helpful in deepening a person's relationship with God. Much of these prayers comes straight out of scripture. The set our prayers included here come from The Book of Common Prayer according to the use of The Episcopal Church. These devotions follow the basic structure of the Daily Office of the Episcopal Church. When more than one person is present, the Reading and the Collect should be read by one person, and the other parts said in unison, or in some other convenient manner. For convenience, appropriate Psalms, Readings, and Collects are provided in each service. When desired, however, the Collect of the Day, or any of the Collects appointed in the Daily Offices, may be used instead, and other biblical readings can be substituted. It is recommended that readings be taken equally from the Psalms, Old Testament, Gospels, and general New Testament. |
